Elaine Hass, 94, of North Branch, passed away Thursday, February 19, 2026 at United Hospice of Aspire.

Elaine was born on April 15, 1931, in Bad Axe, Michigan to the late Clark and Grace (Sageman) Dunlap. She attended Bad Axe High School graduating with the Class of 1949. Elaine married Fredrick Hass Jr. on May 12, 1951 in Bad Axe, Michigan. He passed away August 29, 1996. She lived in White Pigeon until 2005 when she moved to North Branch. Elaine was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church as well as the Brown City Red Hatters. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and crafts. Elaine made baby gowns for over 60 years and donated them to hospitals, pregnancy centers and anyone with a new baby. Most of all, Elaine loved spending time with her family.

Elaine is survived by children, Betty (Randy) Opperman, Don Hass; daughters-in-law, Laureena Hass and Sheila Hass; grandchildren, Brandy (Matt) Fetterhoff, Marlana (Ed) Swindell, Jodi Friend, Ray (Chika) Hass, Randy (Sarah) Opperman, Krystal (Andrew) Mossner, Karla Opperman (Jon Sawall) and Ryan (Destiny) Opperman; 21 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; sister, Betty Binder; sister-in-law, Ruthann Schmitt; along with several nieces and nephews.

Elaine is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Hass, sons, Ron and Larry Hass; great-great grandchild, Dustin Horne; daughter-in-law, Donna Hass; parents; and sister, Phyllis McQueen.

The family will receive visitors from 10-12 noon on Monday, February 23, 2026 at St. James Lutheran Church, 3169 North Branch Road, North Branch, Michigan, 48461.

A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Monday, February 23, 2026 at St James Lutheran Church, North Branch.

Burial will be in Marlette Cemetery.

Memorials in her name may be made to St. James Lutheran Church.
