Elaine Murphy

    Helen Elaine Murphy age 79, of Roosevelt, passed away May 12, 2025 at the Sr. Villa Rehabilitation Center.  
    Elaine was born October 16, 1945 in Murray, Utah to Zeary Mathews and Beulah Jane Anderson.  She married Reese Murphy on August 20, 1971, in Ioka, Utah   They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on April 26, 1974.  He died December 29, 2022.
    Elaine grew up on a farm, helping her family and she always loved the outdoors, because of that experience.  She worked as the director of the  Agriculture Soil Conservation for many years, helping farmers to get water to all parts of the Uintah Basin.  She was a classy, business woman who was also a wonderful mother, who nurtured her kids and taught them the things that they needed to learn.  
    She enjoyed music, especially classic rock, oil painting, horses, fishing, camping, spending time in the mountains and visiting with others.  She was a loyal friend to those she knew and loved, a great homemaker and delighted in being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother to those she loved the most.
    She is survived by her children, Ted Hunting, Vernal; McCoy Murphy, Evah (David) Taylor, both of Roosevelt; 15 grandchildren, and  6 great-grandchildren.
    She is preceded in death by her husband Reese, her daughter, Terri Sue Rasmussen, and siblings, Ruthford Mathews, Louise Nelson, and Dorothy “Dot” Perry
    Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Central Park Chapel in Roosevelt.  A viewing will be held that morning from 9:30 - 10:50 AM.   Burial will be in the Roosevelt Memorial Park under the direction of the Hullinger Mortuary.
