Hi, my name is Chantel and I just wanted to send my condolences. Mrs. Newman was my 5th grade teacher at Prairie Elementary. She was definitely one of my favorite teachers I have to say because of how kind she was and genuinely interested. She touched my life in a special way. The year before my mom had divorced my father. After their divorce me, my sister and my mom moved from Denham Springs here to Lafayette. Well to say the least my 4th grade teacher was terrible I failed the school year went to summer school, after having been an honor roll student this was a huge adjustment for me. So after passing summer school and being assigned to Mrs. Newmans class, well it was just such a blessing! She was thoughtful and enjoyed teaching, she took an interest in me and made me feel like I was special. That year I made honor roll again and learned so much from her, even still to this day my Dad (the man my mother remarried here in Lafayette, Larry Langlinais) and I still talk about what a remarkable impact she had on me during a very difficult time in my life. I will forever be thankful for meeting her and getting to know her. I am truly sorry for your loss. She is and will be missed and I hope to see her again in heaven one day. Beautiful Soul! Wonderful memories! My husband always called her the Bear Claw girl because of the way she held her tennis racquet. She will be remembered. How blessed her family was to have had her in their life. i hope you find that peace from God that passes all understanding.

Elaine and I were together at Prairie a long time, before each retired! She and I would compare and brag about our granddaughters, and the girls were best friends!

Elaine was a beautiful ray of sunshine to all who were fortunate to know her. She was always so kind, and she always had a smile on her face. I'm proud to have known and worked with her. God bless all of her family and friends, for I know she was dear to you all, and she loved all of you.
