Elaine Francom Peterson, 85, passed away peacefully at her home in Ogden, Utah Saturday, September 4, 2021. She was born August 10, 1936, in Tremonton, Utah to Wilbur Dee Francom and Nola Kidman.

She lived in Utah until age eight and then moved to Arizona. After attending Arizona State, she moved back to Ogden where she worked at the U.S. Forest Service. While living in Ogden she attended the 34th Ward where she met her eternal companion, Lorenzo Edward Peterson, Jr. They were married on June 1, 1962, in the Salt Lake Temple.

Many church callings were a precious part of her life including Primary Counselor, Relief Society Secretary, music callings and many years as a service missionary in the employment offices of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She also enjoyed belonging to Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

She dedicated her life to creating an eternal family, which started with her own marriage and extended to each of her children. They fondly remember her love for family history, sewing, quilting, painting, crocheting and knitting. She spread her selfless love by giving nieces, nephews and anyone in need a temporary home.

Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Lorenzo Edward Peterson, Jr.; her parents, sister, Glenna Oswald and brother, Shirl Francom. She is survived by her children, Tonya Peterson, Mark (Cirrus) Peterson, Dawn (Lynn) Durfee, Michael (Laura) Peterson, her foster daughter, Sharon Woodis, 16 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Pleasant Valley Stake Center, 5640 South 850 East, Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, next to her husband at Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Services entrusted to Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary.
