Elaine Dorothy Rozansky (Davis), 92, of Glencoe, IL passed away peacefully in her home on February 20, 2023. She was the beloved wife of the late Ben Rozansky for 58 years. She was the wise Matriarch of our family. Much loved and known for creating beautiful, colorful needlepoints, utilizing advanced stitch techniques, interesting yarn, and artful designs.
Mother to Phil (Theresa Foley), Maureen (late Randy) Wells and Oliver THE Dog. Little sister of Gloria (late Avers) Wexler.
Grandmother to Krystl Wells (late Josh Hyfler), Justin (Molly) Wells, Elizabeth (Eric) Williams, Katie (Jeff) Morris, Allison (Travis) Anderson. Great Grandmother to Jack Wells, Maddison Calhoun, Miles, Ruby and Norah Williams and Willow Morris.
Aunt to Francine (Avrohom) Stock, Shelly (Karen) Slovin, Fern (Jeff) Gutman, Barb Wexler, Laurie Rice, Ken (Amy) Wexler, Sheri (Stuart) Kurland.
Great Aunt to the late Gershon (Toby), Hershy (Yehudis), Mottie (Freda), Zeesha (Deana), Moshe (Miriam), Dovid and Ari (Nayeli) Stock, Rayla (Gershon) Salomon, Michael, Samuel and Ari (Yael) Gutman, Kate (Matt) Manos, Sarah, Arron (Erinn) and Chris (Grace) Smith, Martha, Zoe and Liam Wexler.
Great-Great Aunt, cherished by so many, but just too many to actually list!
Elaine was born in Brooklyn New York to loving parents Jean and Morrie. They moved to Chicago in 1933 and lived modestly on the west side of Chicago. She got her teaching degree at Roosevelt University and went on to teach kindergarten and first grade. She eventually gave up teaching to become a full-time mother, partner and wife.
Elaine's Bed and Breakfast was well known in our family and was welcoming and open all year round, except when she was traveling. She and her husband Ben traveled to nearly all points in the world. Perhaps the most unique trip was a 6-week freighter trip to South America where they were the only passengers.
Most notably she was an incredible dog lover. And the dogs loved her. Among the many dogs she raised, 5 were Rhodesian ridgebacks that were shown and 2 selected as champions.
Her life bloomed and she showed it with her green thumb and wonderful meals. She was a great, warm and loving host. We are all going to miss the empathy, support and generosity she always had for everyone!
In the last few years of her life, as her health declined, she made new friends. She was supported by several amazing souls including Grace Fernandez, Ramil Zambra, and Nadiya Yusypyuk. Along with old friends, Barb Levy and Elline Eliasoff, our family has grown and we are so thankful for them. I have the fondest memories of Aunt Elaine, on her Yarzheit, and every other day. She loved crafts, and always completed her artistic endeavors. She was a gracious hostess, and attentive to the needs of her guests.

Her hospitality and generosity stand out. Family was very important to her, she travelled the world to attend Stock Family simchas. One small memory showing her respect for her religious relatives culture, was buying a wig to wear for a great nephews wedding in Israel. Aunt Elaine was a most amazing woman! We all talk fondly about her and miss her.
