Elbert Adolph "Doc" Griffin, 88, of Calvin, Louisiana, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2024, in Natchitoches, Louisiana. He was born on September 4, 1936, in Calvin, Louisiana, to the late Odie Griffin and Lela Frances Wilks Griffin.
Doc was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and a proud resident of Calvin, where he lived off the land since childhood. A 10-year veteran of the United States Air Force, he served his country with honor before returning to the homeplace he cherished. Doc was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed gardening and found great joy in the simple beauty of life on his family's land.
He is survived by his dedicated and caring wife of nearly 50 years, Jacquelyn "Jackie" Hammond Griffin of Calvin, LA; his children, Denese Filipi (Allen), Robbie Griffin (Kelly), Renee Lee (Tony), and Chris Campbell (Vicki); his grandchildren, Kasey, Jessica, Megan, Amanda Kaye, Caleb, Adam, Emma, Brittney, Samantha, and Amanda; 16 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Griffin Long, along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
In addition to his parents, Doc was preceded in death by his brothers, A.J. Griffin, Leslie Griffin, Delbert Griffin, and Jimmy Griffin.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Bethlehem Cemetery, with Rev. Lamar Carpenter officiating.
Honoring Doc as pallbearers will be Robbie Griffin, Allen Filipi, Tony Lee, Chris Campbell, Caleb Griffin, Josh Rackley, Logan Jones, David Morris, and Austin Riley Jones.
