Elbert Wesley Jr., born on October 3, 1932, in Clay County Alabama to Elbert Sr. and Cecilia Wesley, passed away on March 27, 2026, leaving behind a legacy marked by devoted military service, a loving family, and a warm, easy-going spirit that touched many lives.
Elbert dedicated 20 plus years to the United States Army, where he served with distinction. Beginning his career in the motor pool, he advanced to become a skilled radar technician. His commitment and bravery were evident through his service in three tours in Vietnam as well as during the Korean War. His military journey not only reflected his dedication to his country but also shaped the foundation of his character—steady, reliable, and good-natured.
Beyond his military tenure, Elbert was a man known for his kindness and level-headedness. He possessed a calm and easy-going personality and was beloved by many who knew him. His approach to challenges was uniquely simple yet profound: sometimes, the best solution was to “just let it be.” This philosophy resonated through his relationships, contributing to the warmth and stability he brought to his family and friends.
His daughter fondly recalled a cherished memory was of riding a Vespa at the age of four, standing securely while holding tightly to her father as they explored the mountainside together. His son remembered the long motorcycle rides they shared, times filled with connection and joy. Elbert also enjoyed driving, he would take long road trips to see his friends and family.
In his personal life, Elbert enjoyed dancing, particularly country western and ballroom styles and competed in dance contests. His love of dance reflected his easy-going nature and provided an avenue for expression and joy. Whether on the dance floor or in quiet conversation, he was always good to talk to and a friend who could be counted on to listen with compassion and insight.
He is survived by his children, Mark Wesley, Tina Sage (William); grandchildren, Aaron Lee, Ian Lee (Belinda), Adam Sage; great-grandchild, Evan Lee.
Elbert is proceeded in death by his wife, Mary Wesley and his parents, Elbert Sr. and Cecilia Wesley.
Elbert Wesley Jr.’s life was marked by service, family devotion, and a genuine kindness that left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy endures in the hearts of his children and all those who treasured his friendship, his humor, and his steady presence.
Though he is no longer with us, the memory of Elbert’s gentle spirit, steadfast dedication, and loving guidance will continue to inspire and comfort those who carry him in their hearts.
