Eldie was born on October 4, 1944, to Reiner A. and Grace (DeBoer) Henrichs in Rock Rapids, Iowa.
In his early years he and his dad had a custom feed grinding business to serve local farmers. He worked hard for the Department of Transportation for 35 years until retirement, but retirement was not an option for Eldon. He kept busy. He had a strong work ethic, was a self-taught electrician, loved tinkering on and fixing cars and motors, and even drove race cars at local tracks. He also enjoyed woodworking by making use of scraps as he believed in recycling and making something out of nothing.
His great passion was helping the Van Gelder boys (Joel and Jason) to bring in their harvest. He drove truck there for 18 years and always said he got two bonus sons and their families.
Eldon was a nature lover and avid bird watcher. He never met a stranger and loved to carry on a good conversation. God gave him a special talent of whistling. He will be missed.
Survived by and left to cherish his memories are his wife Donna and children: Lori (Ryan) Kruse of Fort Gibson, OK, Gina (Thomas) Wietzema of Sibley, IA, Keylon Henrichs of Sibley, IA, and Jason (Katie) Henrichs of Sioux City, IA, his ten grandchildren: Matthew (Antonia) Kruse of Fort Campbell, KY, Lacey (James) Davis of Fort Gibson, OK, Jessica (William) Patterson of Vicksburg, MS, Kate (Daniel) Feldman of Sheldon, IA, Jacob (Lizzie) Wietzema of Sibley, IA, Tommy Jack Wietzema of Sibley, IA, Kameron Henrichs of Sioux City, IA, Breyden Henrichs of Sibley, IA, Hadlee and Jaxon Henrichs of Sioux City, IA, his ten great grandchildren: Bruce Kruse of Fort Hood, TX, Levi Kruse of Fort Campbell, KY, James IV, Dylan, Wyatt, Tyler, and Elsie Davis of Fort Gibson, OK, Tristian, Emma, and Lilian Patterson of Vicksburg MS, his sister Harriet Lenderts of Sibley, IA, nieces, nephews, and numerous other family members.
