Eldon was a wonderful soul! As I walked into his empty hospital room today after hearing of his departure, I could hear him say, "Hi there girl, how's Jo today?" His smile lit up the room. His voice was masculine yet soft and sweet with the sound of complete care and in the moment. He truly was interested in knowing about me even though he was the patient. I enjoyed providing care to this gentle giant and looked forward to seeing him. He was very much a highlight to my busy day. Often at his side was his beautiful wife Pam regardless of how early, she beat me there. I enjoyed the bantering between them and the depth of their looks at one another, as if saying what was on their minds without speaking the words. They were not just one another's spouse but each other's best friend and their actions towards one another spoke louder than their voices. Eldon will be deeply missed by all those known to him! If he left anything behind it was his smile and love for his family! He spoke often about good times and of his family. He enjoyed talking (I think mostly to get out of therapy) but really enjoyed conversations with others. He had a giving soul and I will truly miss him! My deepest condolences to his loving wife and family. Taking care of Eldon was more than just my job, it was a privilege.
