Eldred Rennpage, age 97, of
Mansfield, Ohio was welcomed home by Our Heavenly Father on Friday, March 7, 2025. Born on March 20, 1927, in Dent, Minnesota to Alanzo T. and Antoinette (Fidler) Rennpage. Eldred was hired at 14 years of age to work on Donnabell's family farm in Morrow County, Ohio, by her father. It was then he met 12-year-old Donnabell, the love of his life and future wife. Eldred married his childhood sweetheart on November 16, 1947, upon his return from serving 2 years and 8 months in the United States Navy during WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Donnabell Zeger Rennpage.
During his childhood, Eldred was a 4-H member and later became a charter member of the Jr. Grange. He attended church and youth group in Williamsport, Ohio.
Together Eldred and Donnabell enjoyed the Richland Roamers Camping Group, camping in 49 of the 50 United States of America, all but Hawaii. They relished the time spent at school activities, concerts, and sporting events in which their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren participated. They both loved attending family reunions.
Eldred was a hard worker and ingenious. He gained a wealth of knowledge through his varied employment history: working at Westinghouse, renting a 180-acre farm owned by Walk Leedy, working at a lumber company in Caledonia, then at Home Materials, and as a bus driver for Madison Schools. If Eldred saw something that needed fixing, he would fix it. He was a charter member of the Williamsport Grange and the Madison Twp. Lions Club.
As a disciple of Jesus, Eldred enjoyed life and helping others. He served as head usher at Trinity Church on Grace Street in Madison for 35 years and as treasurer of the Board of Trustees there for 40 years. Even as his health started declining, Eldred found ways to serve God, his family, and his community.
While in his late eighties, Eldred was thrilled to board a plane and take an Honor Flight to Washington D.C. It was with great excitement that Eldred and Lloyd Whitney drove an antique fire truck from Ohio to its new home in the state of Washington, traveling at 45 miles an hour along almost the entire route.
In addition to his wife, Donnabell, Eldred was predeceased by his granddaughters, Landree Rennpage and Danielle Baynes.
Eldred is survived by his four children: Diane (Bill) Graham, Cathy (Wayne) Weber, Terry (Mary) Rennpage, and Barb (Jeff) Keller; nine grandchildren: Shari (Dan) Rogers, Rita (Brian) Wiening, Jason (Angie) Moore, Justin (Ora) Moore, Chastity (Pete) Trumpower, Kelly (Jeff) Ryan, Jeffrey (Laurie) Keller, Jacob Keller, and Kariann (Corey) Chandler; 16 great-grandchildren: Christina Hosler, David Hosler, Elizabeth (Sean) Johnson, Kyan Wilson, Nevaeh Cruz, Alex Moore, Alexandria (Zach) Schlabach, Callum (Kasey) Luvara, Adriana Stevens (Josh Baynes), Olivia Trumpower, Ava Trumpower, Renn Ryan, Rad Ryan, Eva Rennpage, Mia Keller, Lake Chandler, and Jett Chandler; two great-great-grandchildren, Carter Heintz and Rhett Baynes; sister, Vivian Cline; sister-in-law, Rosanne (Bob) Hosack; as well as many nieces and nephews.
