Eatonton, GA - Eleanor Sweet Askham Stubba entered into eternal life, August 2, 2025.

She was born November 3, 1936 in Brooklyn, NY, a daughter of the late Ward and Ann Hogan Sweet. She graduated from Ilion High School. She married Charles R. Askham on July 31, 1954. He died on May 28, 1984. She married Rev. William H. Stubba on July 16, 2005.

She started her banking career with Farmington Savings Bank, Farmington, Connecticut. Various other banks followed in her forty years of employment. She retired from Fidelity Bank, Atlanta, GA.

She was a member of Learning in Retirement at Georgia College and State University, Newcomers Club - Milledgeville, Executive Suites Alumni, After Hours Alumni, Milledgeville Country Club, and several Card Playing Clubs.

Eleanor loved ballroom dancing, golf, boating, trivia, and card playing. In her younger days, she enjoyed water skiing.

Survivors, besides her husband, include a son, Robin (Sheila) Askham of Arvada, CO; stepdaughter, Cathy (Richard) Shepard of Spartanburg, SC; stepsons, William (Sheri) Stubba and Scott Stubba of Poland, NY; grandchildren, Christine (David) Kamin and Charles Askham, both of Arvada, CO; 2 great-grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren; 15 step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Brenda DeJohn of Ilion and Prudy Seamon of Lockport, NY; sister-in-law, Nanette Sweet of Rockvale, TN and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.

She was predeceased by her sisters, Letha Cousins and Patty Miller; one brother, James (Erkie) Sweet and nephews Zachary Seamon and Jamie DeJohn.

Calling hours will be on Saturday, August 16, 2025 from 10-11 am at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, 100 Otsego St. Ilion, NY 13357. A funeral service will take place at 11 am with Maryann Victor, officiating. A committal service will follow in Armory Hill Cemetery. There will be no services held locally in Eatonville, GA area.
