Eleanor L. Augustine, 85, of Mansfield, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2009. She was born August 28, 1923 in Mansfield, Ohio to the late Milton and Viva D. Flowers Au. Eleanor first and foremost loved the Lord. She shared her love through her kind and gentle demeanor. She was a friend to all. She had a quiet personality, always keeping up on her reading. Eleanor did have an active life early on, she once had been a welder during the war and she owned and operated a kennel at her farm and bred & showed boxers professionally. Later in life, she enjoyed watching sports, especially the Ohio State University. Her family and friends will miss her dearly. She was a member of the Berean Baptist Church and had been a charter member of the Diamond Hills Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Susan Fankhauser of Illinois and Leah Dent of South Carolina; four grandchildren, Matthew (Shea) Dent of South Carolina, Aaron (Kelly) Fankhauser of Illinois, Tiffany (Dan) Henderson of North Carolina and Cori (John) Martin of South Carolina; three great grandchildren, Drew, Annie and John Daniel Henderson; numerous nieces and nephews and very dear friends; two sisters-in-law Naomi Au of Mansfield and Jane Au of North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Dominic Augustine in 1978, her parents; two brothers, Ned and Samuel Au; and a sister and brother-in-law Helen and Pete Deschner. Friends may call Monday, March 16, 2009, from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd., Mansfield, Ohio. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, March 17, at 1:00 pm in the Berean Baptist Church, 2145 Middle-Bellville Rd., Mansfield, by Pastor David Pound. Burial will follow at Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Northeast Ohio (Akron) Office, 1815 West Market St., Suite 108, Akron, Ohio 44313 or the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation P. O. Box 650309 Dallas, TX 75265-0309.
