Eleanor Dahle Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 3, 2023.
Eleanor Marie Baker was born in Spokane Washington on March 9, 1931 to Marie and Sidney Baker. She married Norman A. Dahle on August 28, 1954. She died at her home in Olympia on December 21, 2022.
After graduating from Augsburg College in Minneapolis, she was going to be a missionary. Rather than going overseas, she married Norman Dahle who was a seminary student at Augsburg. She assisted and supported his ministry during their 67 years of marriage.
Eleanor taught Art and Art History at Ketchikan High School, Ketchikan Community College, Rockwood Middle School in Portland, Oregon and Adult Education in Arizona.
Eleanor loved art and was an accomplished painter of landscapes in water colors and acrylics, and sculptures in clay, marble and soap stone. She loved to travel and see art and architecture first hand.
She remodeled a NE Portland home into A Place Apart Art Gallery where she featured many up and coming Northwest artists.
Eleanor was a great hostess, gracious and full of humor, her eyes twinkled and her smile warmed hearts.
Surviving family includes her brother Rodney Baker and sister-in-law Arlene, sons Mark Dahle and Michael Dahle, daughter Mary and son-in-law John Blenz.
She was preceded in death by her husband Norman Dahle, father Sidney C Baker, mother Marie R. Baker, sister Elsie Ytreeide, sister Connie Baker, and brother Ronald Baker.
