Eleanor C Erickson

1922 - 2023

Eleanor C. Erickson, 100, of New London, died on Sunday, September 17, 2023. She was born on December 17, 1922, in Galion, Ohio. Eleanor was the daughter of the late Calvin and Emma (Bruck) Cronenwett.

She was a graduate of Galion High School. She married James E. Erickson on October 1, 1944; they moved to New London in 1945. Eleanor retired from Firelands Electric Co-Op after 25 years of service. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ashland. She enjoyed playing bridge and baking, especially chocolate chip and Christmas cookies. She loved attending her grandchildren's high school events and traveling with her husband and family.

Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Bob) Irons of Findlay; granddaughters, Heidi (Matt) Thompson of Beavercreek and Lindsey (Brian) Hooper of Liberty Township; great-grandchildren, Madison, Connor and Alexis Thompson, Evan and Quinn Hooper; sister, Bette Ulmer of Richmond, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband, James in 2008; daughter, Nancy Erickson and brothers, Paul and Junior.

Friends and family will be received on Friday, September 22, from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main Street, New London, where her Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 23, beginning at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, 508 Center Street, Ashland, OH 44805 or the New London Public Library, 67 South Main Street, New London, OH 44851.
