Eleanor Meehan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Veterans Funeral Care on Dec. 5, 2025.
Eleanor C. Meehan, age 79, of Clearwater, Florida, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2025. She was born on August 14, 1946, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the beloved daughter of the late Joseph E. and Eleanor J. Cairnes.

On June 28, 1969, she was united in marriage to Austin J. "Jim" Meehan at St. Raymond's Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They shared 56 years of devoted marriage - a partnership built on love, respect, and mutual support.

Eleanor's legacy lives on through her family. She is survived by her husband, Austin J. Meehan; her daughters Julie McKenna( Tim) and Colette Lata (Ted); her sons James A. Meehan (Donna) and Thomas J. Meehan; and her cherished grandchildren Hannah, Courtney, Meredith, Paige, and Jameson.

Professionally, Eleanor dedicated her life to caring for others. She worked in the Critical Care Unit at Germantown Hospital, as well as at Holy Redeemer and Doylestown hospitals. She served as an instructor at Bucks County Vo-Tech, provided home health aid services, worked at Twining Village Extended Care Facility, and cared for patients through Asthma Allergy Care and Bayada Nurses. She also lent her talents to Hallowell Elementary as a math helper, volunteered as an RN, and served as a parish nurse with Faith Community Nurses. Later in life, she was the parish nurse for St. Michael's Catholic Church.

Eleanor lived in many communities throughout her life, including Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Alexandria, Virginia; Meadowbrook, Pennsylvania; Ivyland, Pennsylvania; Dunedin, Florida; and Clearwater, Florida.

Among her proudest accomplishments were earning her RN license, raising her four children, and founding her small business, "Maddie Cakes." She also found great joy in volunteering as a nurse at Mease Dunedin Hospital and in teaching - always giving generously of her time and care.

Lynn could often be found on the youth football fields in Warminster, PA where she served as the organization's nurse for more than a decade. She was known to all for her enthusiasm and compassion towards all she encountered. Her enthusiasm extended to shopping with, and for, her grandchildren, Lynn leaves behind a legacy of facing challenges head on, with dignity, grace, and a smile.

In her memory, memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, the National Cancer Foundation, or Shriner's Hospital.

She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of service, kindness, and love will endure in the hearts of all who knew her.
