Eleanor Noe Obituary

Eleanor R. Noe, 81, of 34 Chelsey Lane, Cheboygan, Michigan, died early Thursday morning, May 22, 2003 at Marquette General Hospital. Mrs. Noe was born on January 16, 1922 in Detroit, Michigan to the late William and Clara Preston Poelker. Eleanor was raised in Jackson, Michigan and was a 1939 graduate of Jackson High School. On May 9, 1942, she married her husband, Robert F. Noe in Jackson and together they celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary earlier this month. She and her husband moved to Cheboygan in 1984 where they have lived ever since. Eleanor was an active member of the Church of the Straits in Mackinaw City and was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Jackson. Survivors include her husband, Robert F. Noe of Cheboygan; three children, Elaine Eric Schalge of Alma, MI, James Jane Noe of Gwinn and Jacquelyn Paul Cooke of Okemos, MI; eight grandchildren, Melissa Gerald Whitaker, Rebecca Gary Rasmussen, Andrew Heather Schalge, Sarah Noe and her fianc', Chad Green, Robert Noe, Benjamin Noe, Kimberly Cooke and Natalie Cooke; one great grandson, Noah Schalge; three sisters, Katherine Walker of Mio, MI, Margaret Lawson of Jackson, MI and Frances Avery of Homer, MI; also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death besides her parents was a grandson, Adam Cooke and a sister, Elizabeth Stuart. A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 26 at 11 a.m. in the Church of the Straits, Mackinaw City with Dr. Maria Price officiating. Another memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 31 at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church in Jackson. Friends may visit with the family one-hour prior to the service. Inurnment will take place in Woodland Cemetery, Jackson. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy are kindly asked to consider Habitat for Humanity or the Church of the Straits Building Fund in Mrs. Noe's memory.
