Eleanor P. Strang was born on December 4, 1938 to Thomas Westley and Margaret McFarland in Chester County, Pennsylvania. She was part of a large family, having 12 siblings.
In time, she had 4 children of her own; David, Jordan, Jason and Tara. In the early 1970’s, Eleanor bravely moved her family from the area she had always known to Chadron, Nebraska. Although it was very different, she grew to enjoy life on the plains.
Eleanor always loved flowers and even worked in a floral shop at one time. Although it was a challenge, Eleanor became an avid grower of orchids. She also belonged to a group who walked while identifying wild flowers in the area where she lived. She became very knowledgeable and loved to share what she had learned with friends and family.
Eleanor’s children remember her as someone who often read her Bible and believed that faithfulness to God, even during difficulties, was very important. Before passing on January 12, 2026, Eleanor spent some of her last hours listening to the spiritual songs she loved.
