Eleanor Irene Stuck
May 25, 1926 – October 27, 2025
Eleanor Irene Stuck, 99, of
Sanford, North Carolina, formerly Valrico, Florida, and McKean, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at home on October 27, 2025, surrounded by family. She was born on her family's farm in McKean on May 25, 1926, the daughter of Archie and Florence Schuetz Rose.
Eleanor lived a long and fulfilling life centered on faith, family, and creativity. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she shared her quiet strength, sense of humor, and generous heart with all who knew her.
A devoted Methodist, Eleanor put the Lord at the center of all she did. Even as a young girl, her faith guided every step she took-she often walked miles to and from church as a teenager because worship and fellowship were that important to her. Her church family remained her family throughout her life, and she never missed an opportunity to bless each and every meal. She loved sharing those meals with her beloved pug, Ruby, who was her constant companion and source of joy. Eleanor's faith was a steady source of comfort and strength for her and for those she loved.
Eleanor had a lifelong love of crafting and took great joy in creating thoughtful gifts for others. She especially enjoyed working with plastic canvas, making coasters, ornaments, and tissue boxes-often giving them away to strangers or people she had just met, a testament to the joy she brought to everyone around her. If you received one of these gifts from here, you received a dozen. When her grandchildren were younger, she was the dedicated cake maker, always creating the Wilton cake of their choice and making each of them feel special and celebrated. Her creativity and generosity brightened every occasion, leaving behind countless keepsakes that continue to warm the homes and hearts of those who loved her.
Eleanor was extremely sharp, even in her later years, and she loved spirited conversations about politics and sports with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her wit, insight, and curiosity kept her young at heart and deeply connected to those around her.
For years, Eleanor was a friendly face to many travelers stopping at the Green Shingle in McKean, where she greeted customers with a warm smile and friendly conversation as they paid their bill before getting back on the road. Her kindness and genuine interest in people made every encounter a little brighter.
In retirement, Eleanor and her beloved husband, Doyle, embraced the snowbird life for many years, spending their winters in Tampa, Florida, and Apache Junction, Arizona. They also loved traveling the country in their favorite home on wheels-their Winnebago-making friends wherever they went and filling their days with sunshine, fellowship, and adventure.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle E. Stuck; one sister, Arletta Gnagi; and one daughter, Judy Lawrence.
She is survived by one sister, Doris Wells; two daughters, Joyce Adams and Linda Gebhardt; grandchildren, Chris Brozell, Pam (Michael) Zaycosky, David (Carol) Billings, Michael (Robin) Billings, Jeff Gebhardt, Greg (Carrie) Gebhardt, and Shannon Gebhardt; many nieces and nephews; 14 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Along with a dear friend Barb Ganzer and a close son-in-law Richard Brozell.
Eleanor's warmth, faith, and loving spirit left a lasting mark on everyone she met, and her memory will continue to live on through the family and friends she so deeply loved.
Eleanor will be laid to rest with Doyle at Erie County Memorial Gardens at a later date. The family will not host any formal service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to McKean United Methodist Church, 5041 North Main Street, McKean, PA 16426
