Eleanore Vollkommer Gawron, also known as Eleanore Elizabeth Gawron, passed away peacefully at her home in Orlando, Florida, on December 6, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on December 2, 1934, in Queens, New York, she was the beloved daughter of Andrew Vollkommer, Bertha S. Heinel, and George Zeiser (stepfather).
Eleanore dedicated her life to service, family, and community. She was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, serving honorably from June 20, 1955, to October 12, 1956. Following her military service, she contributed many years to Orange County Public Schools as an Administrative Assistant, remembered for her professionalism, dedication, and warm presence.
She married the love of her life, Frank Gawron, with whom she shared many decades of devotion and family. Frank preceded her in death, as did her brothers Raymond Arnold and Raymond Zeiser.
Eleanore was a deeply loved mother and the matriarch of a large and close-knit family. She is survived by her four children: Debra Ann (Gawron) McCaleb and her husband Stephen McCaleb; George Stephen Gawron and his wife Mary Gawron; Francis Michael Gawron and his wife Patricia Gawron; and Christina Lynn (Gawron) Becker and her husband Johnny Becker.
Eleanore’s legacy continues through her many cherished grandchildren: Melissa McCaleb, Katie Meyer (sp. Nick Meyer), Matthew McCaleb (sp. Kateryna McCaleb), Kimberly Hartsock (sp. Corey Hartsock), Billy Gawron (sp. Jasmine Gawron), Mary Kate (Gawron) Galluzzo (sp. CJ Galluzzo), Brendan Gawron (sp. Heather Gawron), Trevor Gawron, Connor Gawron, Jarod Gawron, Madison Gawron, Austin Becker, and Jason Becker.
She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews, all of whom brought her immense joy and pride.
Eleanore’s grace, loyalty, and quiet strength touched everyone who knew her. She will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her profound work ethic, and her strong moral character.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home.A funeral service will take place on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 1:30 PM at Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home.A burial will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park in Winter Park at 3:00 PM.
Eleanore Vollkommer Gawron lived a life defined by service, kindness, and deep devotion to her family. Her memory will be forever treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
