Elena (Helen) Ramirez entered into eternal rest on Friday, November 11, 2022 at the age of 96. A devout Roman Catholic, she was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and godmother, who will be greatly missed. Elena was an active parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Throughout the years, she actively supported St. Joseph Catholic School, Loretto Academy, and Cathedral High School. Elena was a cashier at Furr’s Supermarket for over 15 years. Elena also worked at the Quartermaster Laundry and Officer’s Mess Hall at Fort Bliss, where on her way home from work one day, she met the love of her life—Alfonso Ramirez—whom she was happily married to for nearly 54-years! Elena is preceded in death by her loving parents; Basilio and Ana Garcia Almeraz, her devoted husband; Alfonso Ramirez, Sr. on May 30, 2003, her brother; Jesus Aguirre, and her sisters; Consuelo Chavez, Angela McGoldrick, Josefina Flores, and Dolores Martinez. She is survived by her loving children; Alfonso Ramirez Jr. (Pat) of Sacramento, CA; Robert Ramirez (Debbie) of Glastonbury, CT; Mary Ann Ramirez of Abilene, TX; Michael Ramirez of Las Vegas, NV; and Julie Bustillos (Roman) of El Paso, TX; her grandchildren; Alexis Ramirez (Taylor), Andrew Ramirez (Nadhira), Christopher Ramirez, Kristen Bustillos (Brandon); as well as her great-grandchildren; Nora Ramirez and Zain Ramirez; her siblings; Arturo Almeraz (Beth) and Ana Baskin. She is also survived by many extended family and friends to cherish and honor her memory.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 5:00PM to 9:00PM, with a Vigil and Holy Rosary at 6:30PM at Sunset Funeral Home-West (480 N Resler Dr, El Paso, TX 79912). A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 12:30PM, at St. Joseph Catholic Church (3729 Hueco Ave., El Paso, TX 79903). A Graveside Service will follow at 2:30PM, at Fort Bliss National Cemetery (5200 Fred Wilson Ave, El Paso, TX 79906).
