Eleonor M. Radl, of Joliet, passed away peacefully at the age of 82, on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Evergreen Park, IL, on October 29, 1942, the daughter of the late Walter and Rose (nee Robach) Gonciarz. Eleonor grew up in the south side of Chicago and was a graduate of St. Joseph High School.
Eleonor found joy in the simple things in life, whether it was spending her Thursday nights at the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge playing bingo with friends or her time at home gardening. She loved to laugh and have fun; if there was music and a dance floor, she was dancing. Her adventurous spirit would often lead her to try new things without hesitation. More than anything else, she treasured her time spent with her family. She was devoted to taking care of everyone she loved.
Eleonor is survived by her children, Dawn (Gerald) Emmert, Raymond Radl, and Denise (John) Ferek; grandson, John Roger Ferek; sister, Joann (Stanley) Zatarski; her niece and godchild, Jennifer Zatarski; and her great-nephew, Zachary Frey.
She is preceded by her husband, Roger C. Radl; and her parents.
A Memorial Gathering for Eleonor M. Radl will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Memorial Service at 3:00 p.m. As it was her request, cremation rites have been accorded.
