Elgerine Ready

Elgerine Louise (Weigel) Ready passed away on January 23, 2026. She was born on August 5, 1944, in rural Ellis, KS, to George and Josephine Weigel. She was the middle child of seven, all of whom were raised south of Ellis and attended a one-room schoolhouse. She attended Ellis High School, graduating in 1962.

Elgerine began her career serving others with employment at Sears, which spanned a period of eight years. In 1967, she was transferred to Sears in Canon City, CO, where she remained for four years. Beginning in 1971, Elgerine began working for Holt Family Funeral Home as a receptionist and continued employment there for fifty years. Over the years, she expanded her skills by providing every aspect of funeral service, from hair dressing and funeral arrangements to sales, marketing, and monument design. She took great pride in "going the extra mile" and making every funeral and monument special by adding what she called "a personal touch."Elgerine retired in 2021 due to the COVID pandemic. In retirement, she enjoyed spending time with friends and seeing her grandkids when possible. In her spare time, Elgerine enjoyed crocheting, crafting, cake decorating, and watching the Denver Broncos.

Elgerine is survived by her children, Shannon and Jason (Melanie), along with three wonderful grandchildren, Kyra, Jackson, and Cameron. She is also survived by her siblings, Alice Walter, Orval Weigel, Floyd Weigel, Allen Weigel (Lavonne), and Roy Weigel. Other survivors include stepdaughters: Rhonda Hellman and Kelly (Bernie) Clark, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Elgerine was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Leon Weigel; brother-in-law, Arlen Walter; and sisters-in-law, Barbara Weigel, Linda Weigel, Sheila Weigel, and stepson, Ronnie Ready.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Grandview Christian Church, in Cañon City, Colorado on February 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM. If you're so inclined, wear Purple or any colorful clothing.
