Rivera Family Funerals & Cremations of Espanola and Rio Grande CrematoryA true and loyal son, brother, husband, father and friend has left us. Eli D. Jaramillo, 89, of Chimayo, New Mexico passed away on September 17, 2025 in Santa Fe. He was born in Chimayo on February 18, 1936. His parents were Victoriano Jaramillo and Celestina Trujillo. His paternal grandparents were Pantaleon Jaramillo and Sylveria Cordova and his maternal grandparents were Ursulo Trujillo and Juanita DeAguero.
Eli was a hard-working man. He worked all his life to provide for his family. His main employers were Duke City Lumber Company and Espanola Public Schools in the maintenance department. Eli was also a man who believed in keeping his house, vehicles, tools and his yard in perfect order. Just a few months ago, he could be found outside clearing weeds and rearranging his possessions such as his rescued materials.
Eli was not only known for his steadfast work ethic but also for his vibrant spirit and love for life. He had a deep appreciation for the great outdoors, often spending his time fishing for the plentiful trout and pike that Northern New Mexico is famous for. His enthusiasm for sports was evident in his passion for watching games, especially high school basketball, where he could often be found cheering for the local teams in Espanola.
Eli's life was enriched by the unwavering support of his wife and forever partner, Nora Jaramillo. The two shared a deep bond that echoed throughout their lives together, proving a testament to love and companionship.
As we remember Eli, we celebrate not just the man who contributed so much to his community through work and friendship but also the husband who brought joy and laughter into the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who held him dear.
Eli married Norah Villareal of Alcalde, New Mexico in the late 1950's. His parents-in-law were Amarante and Teresina Villareal. They made their home in Chimayo where they raised their four boys.
Eli was preceded in death his parents, his wife Norah, his sons Jonathan, Darin and Donny, and his brothers Carlos and Roberto. Also, his special cousin, Marcia Medina. He is survived by his son Amarante, his brother Victor Dan (Rosalie), his sister-in-law Juanita Jaramillo and his grandchildren Kendall, Donny Jr., Avery and Amarante Jr. He is also survived many friends including Priscilla Martinez, Orlando and Evelyn Baca and Jimmy Martinez.
