ELINOR SUE MANNIS

MANNIS, Elinor Sue Age 85, passed away on October 1, 2024, in Wilmington, DE. Born September 2, 1939 in Boston, MA, Elinor led a life marked by creativity, intelligence, and compassion. She dedicated her career to science as a bacteriologist, lab technician, and substitute science teacher, and later worked as a bank teller. A graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Elinor was not only academically inclined, but also deeply involved in communities wherever she resided, including Wales, Delaware, New Jersey, and West Virginia. She was an avid reader and enjoyed attending concerts, theater, and opera performances. Elinor was a committed volunteer with Hadassah and most recently, played an active leadership role in the Kutz Senior Living community, demonstrating her strong will and compassionate nature. Preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Alice Erlichman. Elinor is survived by her husband, Fred Mannis; daughters, Deborah Mannis-Gardner (Drew Rader) and Wendy Mannis Scher (Alan Scher); grandchildren, Jonah Scher, Molly Scher, Curtis Gardner, and Noah Rader; and her brother, Len Erlichman. Graveside Services will be 1:00 pm, Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Beth Emeth Memorial Park, 1220 Faulkland Road, Wilmington, DE 19805. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wilmington Chapter of Hadassah, c/o Arlene Eckell, 2000 Pennsylvania Avenue, Apt. #602, Wilmington, DE 19806, in memory of Elinor, honoring her years of dedication and service to the organization.
