COMMITO, Elio Of Stoneham, formerly of Everett, August 1, 2022 at age 99. Born in Everett on August 15, 1922, to Angelo and Francesca (DiTommaso) Commito. Elio was married to Agnes (Covino) Commito for 33 years until her passing and to Marie (Orsini) Commito, his wife of 37 years at the time of his death. Elio was devoted to all his close-knit Commito, Covino, and Orsini family members, including his sons and daughters-in-law, John and Ann, David and Denise, Robert and Ellen; and his six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Elio was a U.S. Army combat veteran, fighting in the European Theater, including the Battle of the Bulge and the Battle of the Siegfried Line. The GI Bill allowed him to pursue his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Accounting and Business Administration. He was a contract administrator in the aerospace and defense technology industry, including at Avco/Textron for many years before retirement, enjoying business trips to California and Hawaii. He later made frequent trips with family members to Tanglewood, Cape Cod, Maine, France, and Italy. Elio was active in community affairs, including Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Little League, PTA, and the Stoneham Finance and Advisory Board. He was a major force in the lives of his sons, always emphasizing academics, but also teaching them his WWII outdoor skills and how to play sports from horseshoes and tennis to baseball, football, and hockey. Later in life, his sons' wives were the wonderful daughters he always wanted. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant the world to him. His open and welcoming spirit helped bring his and Marie's relatives together into a blended family that enjoyed many happy times together. Elio will be buried in a private ceremony.
