Ms. Elisa M. Mendoza

Elisa Mendoza was born on November 22, 1929 in San Luis Potosí, Mexico. She married Rafael Mendoza on December 27, 1954. They came to the United States in 1956 where they raised their four children: Rafael, Patricia, Diana, and Hugo in Glendale, CA. She worked at Cal Rey and Western Fishing Lines, followed by many years as a dietitian in the healthcare industry. Her cooking skills were truly extraordinary and second to none. She was also a talented pianist with a beautiful singing voice. She loved to play cards and was a lifelong, avid Dodgers fan. One of the greatest joys of her life was participating in the church choir at St. Bernard Church, as well as forming part of the choir that sang for Pope John Paul II during his visit to Los Angeles in 1987. She is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Rafael, and her loving son, Rafael, as well as her loving granddaughter, Sara. She will be truly missed by her loving family, including her children Patricia Schoonover (Roger), Diana Garcia (Miguel), and Hugo Mendoza. As well as her grandchildren Joseph, Elizabeth (Matthew), Rachel (Nathan), Laura (Larry), Miguel, Rebecca (Jasper), Vincent, David, and great grandchildren Ezekiel and Violet.
