Elizabeth (Bielsky) Backus

Elizabeth "Betty" Backus, 95, of Marshall, died July 7, 2022. Elizabeth was born February 13, 1927 in Hempstead, NY to Joseph and Sophie (Hycsewska) Bielsky. She worked for 38 years at the Kellogg Company, before retiring in 1987. Elizabeth married Eugene Edward "Ed" Backus on September 30, 1961. He sadly preceded her in death in 2020. She is also preceded in death by a son, Harry Klibenski Jr., a daughter, Becky Klibenski, sisters, Tessie, Marge, Jane, Mary, Helen, Addie and Pauline, and brothers, Henry, John, Matthew, Stanley and Edward. She is survived by a son, Rick (Shelby) Klibenski, a daughter, Cathy (Scott) Reid, and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Elizabeth enjoyed golfing, bowling and gardening. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters (Kirsten and Stephanie). She enjoyed traveling and attending Army reunions with her husband. She was a member of the Kellogg 25-Year Club. Cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service to celebrate her life will take place at Battle Creek Memorial Park Association, with Pastor Bill Cole officiating.
