In Loving Memory of Elizabeth "Libby" Sweet Banning

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Libby, who departed this life on October 2, 2025, at the age of 69 surrounded by her children.

Libby grew up in Cromwell and moved to East Hampton her junior year of High School. Her childhood was filled with family, fun and summers on Lake Pocotopaug. She worked most of her life as a bookkeeper. The last 25 years of her career were spent at Suburban Stationers. After she retired she moved to Newington to be closer to her daughter Rachel.

No doubt her greatest joy in life was raising her three children and watching her
grandchildren grow. She always made time for them and had an unique ability to make each of her children feel like her favorite. Her most cherished moments were those spent with everyone together-especially during the last few Christmases, having all her children under one roof again. She also made life an adventure for them whether it was a trip to Disney, a trip to the store or getting an egg roll after helping at the laundry mat. The wisdom and values she instilled in her children will be cherished and shared with future generations.

Libby is survived by her three children, Stephanie (Jim) Froncak, Stephen (Roxanne) Banning, and Rachel (Luis) Fernandez and her cherished grandchildren, Natalie Froncak, Nicholas Froncak, Lukas Froncak, Julie Fernandez, Riley Banning and Leo Fernandez, all of whom she adored deeply. Along with her sister Debbie (Allan) Shaw, brother Jon (Robin) Sweet, and sister in law Pam Sweet, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, David (DJ) Sweet, and parents David and Nancy Sweet.

Her legacy lives on in the laughter of her grandkids, the stories her children continue to tell and the countless lives she has touched.

A service to celebrate the life of Libby will be held on November 1st at 1:00pm at The Church of the Holy Trinity in Middletown, CTwith light refreshments immediately after. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
