Elizabeth "Betty" Ann (Knight) Burrell, 83, of Anderson, passed away January 7, 2021 at home surrounded by her daughters following a brief illness with cancer and is now present with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Betty was born on June 10, 1937, in Turkey Creek, Florida, the daughter of Wesley and Flora (Royster) Knight. Betty graduated from Turkey Creek High School and then came to Anderson (College) University, graduating in 1963, with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. She continued on to receive her Master of Arts in Education from Ball State University in 1965. She was an elementary school teacher, who taught at Edgewood, Daleville, and retired from Shenandoah Elementary School in 1994. She was a member of East Side Church of God and Chesterfield Church of God, and was very active with the church throughout her life. Betty had many friends throughout the years and wanted to thank her Sulphur Springs Elementary School Retired Teachers Friends Club, Chesterfield Church of God friends, East Side Church of God friends, neighborhood Charleston Commons friends, and the mall walker's friends when Anderson had a mall. She enjoyed staying active throughout her life. A final letter to our Mom and Grandmother: We want to thank mom for telling us who Jesus is and leading us to Christ. Salvation is so important for everyone. Mom made growing up fun with her strawberry milkshakes, popcorn and movie nights on Sundays. She encouraged us to work hard in school and to always do our best. Mom made us laugh with her "grandmaisms" and taught her grandchildren so many lifelong skills. She was so proud of all of them. Mom helped out with service projects in her church, went on a mission trip to Mexico, gave money to support many missionaries over her lifetime, and had a passion for making sure there was food that went to the food pantry. She touched many lives by visiting her friends in many different nursing homes. She would bring them little treats or newspapers to help pass the time. She was an inspiration to many with her passionate words about Jesus. She was witty, smart, and had faith like no other. We will cherish the memories we had with her, all the games of Rook, the lunches after church, and especially her holiday treats like her strawberry jam, her chocolate fudge, sugar cream pie, and Christmas "Crunch". She has given us a great model of praying as she prayed on her knees even at 83 years old. She taught us to be loving and forgiving of others. It hurts that you're gone, but we know that you are rejoicing in Heaven with no pain, no feeling of earthly struggles. She gave us the example of always helping others; whether it be a listening ear, or in financial ways. We celebrate Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Knight Burrell for her life well lived. "The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23". Mom wrote, "Jesus has been such a wonderful, faithful friend to me all of my life." We look forward to seeing her again one day in heaven. Betty is survived by her two daughters, Tammy Burrell and Deb (Roy) Losch; three grandchildren, Katelyn Losch, Ethan Losch and Emma Losch; Joan Ratzlaff who was her lifelong best friend from the beginning of college throughout her life; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers Lorenzo Knight and Walter Knight, sister-in-law Margene Burrell. Thank you Lisa and Jazzmine from Southern Care Hospice. Services will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 am at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, IN 46013 with Dr. Kerry Robinson officiating. The Service will be livestreamed on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/BBDFuneral/live/ Burial will be at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 9:00 to 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to East Side Church of God. Due to COVID mandates everyone must wear a mask and practice social distancing.

To my beloved cousins Tammy and Debbie, this is Bobby. I know I'm a little late checking in, but here I am. Anyhow, I'm terribly sorry to recently hear about the loss of your mother (my Aunt Betty). Please accept my condolences to you.

I am very deeply saddened about her passing on. She was a wonderful person, and by far my favorite aunt. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

I know how hard it is for you, because, as you know, I lost my father (your Uncle Walter) not too long ago. We have to be strong, and carry on the best we can. You know they would have wanted it that way.

Always remember that you still have loved ones that care about you, and love you very much. We must get through this difficult time together, and we will.

I will always have great cherished memories of my Aunt Betty that will last a lifetime. I've never known a friendlier, more wonderful person than her.

Tammy, Debbie, and family, I will always have you in my heart and thoughts. Again, be strong and be well. Take care, and love cousin Bobby.
