Elizabeth Ann "Tootie" Guttzeit Calmes departed this earthly world for her heavenly home on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at the age of 71. Tootie was a native of Ethel, LA and a resident of Hammond. She was an alumni of Southeastern Louisiana University, a Master Gardener and a talented artist who won multiple awards for her fine woven items. She regularly taught basket weaving and pine needle basket making classes for the Hammond Art Guild. Tootie was an active and dedicated member of Creekside Baptist Church. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Harry B. Calmes; son Daniel (Leah Genusa Calmes); grandsons, Mason and Seeley; mother, Ruth Howell Guttzeit; brother, Albert Joseph "Goody" Guttzeit (Lauren); sister Mary Ruth Guttzeit Dixon; as well as multiple nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her father Albert F. "Sonny" Guttzeit, Jr.. A special thank you to Dan and Lisa Bateman for the loving care and assistance in her final months and days. Visitation will be held at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home 7738 Florida Blvd, Denham Springs, on Monday, January 5, 2026, beginning at 10am with a service at 12pm led by Bro. Mark Long. Private interment to be held at a later date.

Just last Summer I enjoyed Tooties Pine needle basket weaving class and she seemed in good spirits and enjoying the class as much as her students. She was a very talented Artist and a "hands on" crafter.
My connection with Tootie was through the Hammond Art Guild. She will be missed greatly.
