Elizabeth Mae Chapman passed away on December 7, 2025 at 9:30PM at the age of 89yo while residing at LaBella in Alton IL for rehabilitation.
Mae was born in Beverly IL to Roy Dalton and Ruth (Embree) Dalton on May 15, 1936, and was an only child. She married Charles "Chip" Cleveland Chapman Jr on November 20, 1955, and raised five children. Chip preceded her in death in 2017. Together they raised five children and resided in Lebanon IL for 60 years.
Relatives include daughter Deborah (Scott) Lewis of SC and grandchildren Matthew Lewis, Jessica (Bobby) Clark and great grandson Brooks; son Mark (deceased) and grandchildren Alicia (Kyle) Kress, Brittany, Miranda, and Jasmine; daughter Rebekah Hayes (widower to Jimbo Hayes) of IL and grandchildren Darrell, Angel, John, Luke and Jacob, and several great and great-great grandchildren; son David Chapman of TX, and son Stephen (Fruwah) Chapman of VA and grandchildren Alaric and Akere. She is also survived by her best friend of 17 years and heart daughter Tami (Robert) Hall of IL who loved her dearly.
Mae shared her talents with everyone by painting portraits, making her daughter's clothing, teaching young mothers to knit and crochet, making sweaters, sewing suits for men, crochet projects for holiday gifts as a small business, and her many beautiful doilies all made from love.
The family has asked any donations be made to your favorite shelter or rescue in memory of Mae's little dogs that kept her company.
A private family celebration of life will be held in May on Mae's 90th birthday.
