In Loving Memory of Elizabeth Ann Desrosier
April 8, 1932 – November 3, 2025
Elizabeth Ann Desrosier, age 93, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 3, 2025. Born on April 8, 1932, she married George Desrosier on August 11, 1956. Their marriage endured for 62 years until his passing on January 31, 2019.
She was a loving and devoted mother who cherished each of her five children deeply: Norman Desrosier (deceased October 19, 2016), Victoria Hackbarth, Cynthia Thompson, Mark Desrosier, and Sandra Rathbone. She was also a proud grandmother to eight and a great-grandmother to six, each of whom she held close in her heart.
Her family history is both extraordinary and historically significant. On March 4, 1924, Elizabeth's father, Harry Fifield, married Lydia Benson, who was 20 years his junior. Together, they raised 17 children-including six sets of twins. On June 12, 1937, Lydia gave birth to one of those sets, setting a world record. That same year, the Fifield family was honored at the World's Fair in New York City during the Twin Day program. Elizabeth herself was a fraternal twin, raised in a modest home in East Thompson, Connecticut, alongside sixteen siblings.
Elizabeth was known for her strength. She never complained, remained selfless in her actions, and her resilience was unmatched. She was a devoted mother and wife, deeply committed to her family and grounded in her faith.
Following George's passing in 2019, Elizabeth was surrounded by caregivers who loved her deeply-including her son Mark and her granddaughter, who provided daily support and companionship. Her presence was a gift to all who knew her. She remained gracious, kind, and deeply rooted in her role as a mother. Her love will continue to guide those she leaves behind.
She will be remembered with deep affection and honored for the life she lived and the love she gave.
