Elizabeth Bauer "Liz" Gatterdam, 85, of Louisville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Jeffersontown Health and Rehabilitation.
She was born on October 25, 1940, in Louisville, one of two children to the late Raymond E. Bauer and Jessie Kays Bauer. Liz was a graduate of Dupont Manuel High School and was of the Catholic Faith. She was an office manager for the former Christopher East Nursing Home for many years until she retired.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Donald P. "Don" Gatterdam; and four children, Mary Donna, Leanne Elizabeth, Bruce Edward, and Richard Erwin Heim.
Liz is survived by three children, Sarah Heim Watkins (Christopher), Andy (Barbara) Heim, Fred J. Heim, III (David); granddaughter, Alexandria Heim; brother, Donald (Sarah) Bauer; and her former husband and father of her children, Fred J. Heim, Jr. She is also survived by stepchildren, Monica Armstrong (Troy), and their two sons, Tyler and Matthew; and Jeffrey Gatterdam.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Jeffersontown Rehabilitation and to Hosparus Health for their excellent care.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road, St. Matthews was entrusted with arrangements.
In keeping with Liz's wishes, memorial gifts may be made to Shively Animal Clinic and Hospital in her name, in remembrance of her dogs.
