JONESBORO - Elizabeth Luann Higgins, 72, of Jonesboro, went to her Heavenly home on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025, in Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. She moved to Jonesboro from Trumann in 1978. She was born in Pawhuska, Okla., on Sept. 20, 1953, to Harry Mills and Lucy Joann Hill. She retired as a teacher at Nettleton Public Schools after serving for over 30 years.
Luann was of the Methodist belief. She loved to coach travel softball for more than 20 years, and was very successful and coached both of her daughters. Her hobbies included fishing and golf. Her favorite pastime was spending time with family and friends on Greers Ferry Lake. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Sarah Ann Terice Higgins.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Clarence "Junior" Higgins, of the home; son, Gary Higgins and wife Kristen of Jonesboro; daughter, Audra Higgins of Fayetteville; Dr. Paige Lawson and husband, Nicholas of Heber Springs; brothers, Steve Hill (Janis) of Jonesboro; Art Hill (Jill) of Fayetteville; Alan Hill (Patti) Fort Smith; grandchildren, Emma, Spencer, Ellie, Grant, Reed, Halle, Sloane, and Rylin.
A celebration of life ceremony will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Emerson Memorial Chapel, with Reverend John Miles officiating, and Emerson Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Doug Falls, Michael Falls, Dr. Ron South, Spencer Malone, Grant Higgins, Josh Hill, and Reed Higgins serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are personnel of Retired and Current Faculty and Teachers from Nettleton Public Schools. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time.
