Elizabeth Hunt Obituary

Elizabeth Janet "Jan" Hicks Hunt

September 7, 1953 - December 29, 2025

Elizabeth Janet "Jan" Hicks Hunt, of Lincoln, Neb., died November 29, 2025, from ovarian cancer. She was born on September 7, 1953.

Left to remember her are her husband, Joe; children Nate (Charlotte) and Amelia (John); and six much-loved grandchildren, Everest, Atlas, Mateo, Nico, Alana, and Aurora. She is also survived by her brothers, Doug and Kenneth; best friend, Julie Ross; and many nieces; nephews; friends; and relatives.

Jan grew up in Lincoln. She enjoyed traveling; including a first plane trip to Australia, bike riding in Nebraska and other states, quilting, gardening, baking banana bread with grandchildren, and tending her yard and flowers.

She will be remembered for her patience, her creative spirit expressed through art, music, and sewing, her wisdom and gentle guidance, and above all, for the unconditional love she gave to her family.

Earlier today

I worked with Jan at DHHS, and she was related to my husband´s side of the family. Jan trained me to become a Social Services Worker in a family team where we shared an office.
Jan was one of the most patient people I have ever met. She was also very intelligent and knowledgeable.
Jan touched the lives of thousands of people due to her choice to work in a human services field. Condolences to her family and prayers for peace at this difficult time.
