Elizabeth Jane Tollman Nelson passed away on December 12th, 2025 in Leesburg, Georgia. Her remains will be placed with her son at Green Lawn Cemetery in Roswell, Georgia.
Born on May 7, 1956, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to father Robert Merrill Tollman and mother Elinor Grace Phillips Tollman. Jane was raised alongside her sisters Christine and Robin. Due to her father’s work, the family moved from New Orleans to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, then Alexandria, Virginia, and ultimately settled in the Dunwoody area of Atlanta in 1969. It was there that Jane spent her formative years and graduated from Dunwoody High School in 1974. Jane went on to attend Wayne State University in Detroit. She built a successful professional career in sales, serving as a Sales Manager with Boise Cascade Corporation in Detroit and Phoenix from 1978 to 1986. She later continued working in sales and real estate while dedicating herself fully to her family. On October 12, 1985, Jane married Richard Nelson in Sarasota, Florida. The couple moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, in July 1985, where their son, Ryan Merrill Nelson, was born on February 24, 1987. In April of that same year, the family relocated to Roswell, Georgia. Jane and Richard welcomed twin daughters, Alexandra and Darienne, on August 28, 1989. Jane made her home in the Roswell, Alpharetta, Cumming and Woodstock areas of Georgia for many years, where she was deeply involved in her children’s schools and activities. Family life was central to her heart. She cherished traditions that included spring break ski trips to Breckenridge, Colorado, and summer stays on St. George Island, Florida, spent with extended family and friends. In 2021, Jane moved to Fort Myers, Florida, where she lived until 2025. For the final seven months of her life, she resided in Leesburg, Georgia.
Jane was predeceased by her beloved son, Ryan Merrill Nelson in November 2012, and by her father, Robert Merrill Tollman, in 2016. Her mother, Elinor Grace Tollman, passed away just fourteen days after Jane, in December 2025, at the age of 98.
Jane is survived by her daughters, Alexandra Layne Nelson and Darienne Elizabeth Nelson Urrea; her grandson, Noah Ryan Urrea; and her sisters, Christine Tollman Delashmutt, Robin Tollman Chester and her beloved dog Jack.
