Elizabeth DeRieux "Betty" Johnson

Johnson, Elizabeth DeRieux-age 88 of Knoxville, passed away Friday, January 9, 2026 at Parkwest Medical Center. Betty, as she was known by all who knew her, was a graduate of Fulton High School. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed gardening, shopping, and travel. A faithful member of Bearden United Methodist Church, she loved attending Friday night dinners with her close friends. Betty most loved her sweetheart and late husband, Fred. They were married for over 50 years prior to his death in 2008.

She was also proceeded in death by her parents, Ralph and Elizabeth DeRieux. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Wayne Sharp; sons Jack Johnson and Doug Johnson; son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Ann-Marie Johnson. Betty is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, as well as her brother and sister-in-law, John W. Sr. and Dianne DeRieux and their children.

Family and friends will meet at 2:45pm at Highland Memorial Cemetery for a 3pm graveside service with Reverend Brad Hyde.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Bearden United Methodist Church mission fund or Second Harvest Food Bank.
