Elizabeth Kohn Szybatka Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sandberg Funeral & Cremation Services on Feb. 14, 2025.
Elizabeth Ann Szybatka (Kohn) (34)
Born in St. Paul, MN on August 27, 1990
Passed on February 13, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Szybatka (Kohn) on February 13, 2025, after her hard-fought battle with Stage 4 Metastatic breast cancer. She was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, and friend.
Preceded in death by her dad Mike, grandparents Cheryle, Gloria, Don and Arlene, mother-in-law Jenny, and father-in-law Jeff.
Survived by husband Adam, daughter Callie, son Gene, parents Jackie and Steve, stepmother Jen, siblings Sammi (Nate), Lauren (Emanuel), Gillian, Dylan, Kristin, grandparents Jim and Terry, and many aunts, uncle, and cousins.
Elizabeth graduated from North St. Paul High School in 2008. Continued her education at Century College, UW Lacrosse, and received her Masters Degree from Bethel University. She went on to work as a Mental Health Professional and Registered Play Therapist with Lighthouse Child and Family Services. She loved supervising new therapists and educating people about mental health in the many classes and speaking engagements she was involved in. Elizabeth had a big heart and touched so many lives. She helped many people, especially kids, get through some tough circumstances during her short, successful career.
Elizabeth enjoyed family time, Christmas, hosting parties, camping, four-wheeling, being a dance and hockey mom, and vacationing, especially to the North Shore to hike on the rocks.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Szybatka Family SupportNow website. These funds will go directly to aid Callie and Gene as they grow.

So very saddened by the tremendous loss of Elizabeth. She was such a lovely young lady that will always be remembered, and her life celebrated. My prayers for her family is all of the good memories to eventually be able to overshadow this pain. All her future plans for her babies to come to fruition and all that wonderful love she surrounded you with to surround you always.

My heart goes out to Elizabeth´s loved ones. Hers was a life of giving help and hope in her chosen career and of being strong and determined in her cancer fight. As one of her cancer sisters, I want you to know every prayer, every shared chat, every laugh, phone call, card and visit was the gift of gold to her. May you take comfort in knowing your love and support mattered deeply to Elizabeth.

To Elizabeth's family, friends, and loved ones: her zeal for life and connecting us young breasties changed and touched countless lives. From so many of us in her Breaat Cancer Under 40 group- we will never forget her. Ever. She is truly a magnificent human who had made the deepest impact on our community. We are gutted and deeply saddened by the world's loss of such a magnanimous woman. I'm so sorry. Elizabeth, thank you for your radiance and for being wonderful you.

We would play hide and seek, and play on the swings, and then she would help me put her sisters to bed. - Alex
