Elizabeth Lauricella (née Justino), born December 4, 1928, passed away peacefully after a long and courageous journey with Alzheimer's disease. A beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Elizabeth lived a life defined by devotion, resilience, and an unwavering love for her family.
Born to John and Louise (Corrado) Justino of Mt. Vernon, NY, Elizabeth grew up in a close-knit Italian-American household where faith, family, and hard work shaped her character. She graduated from Davis High School in Mt. Vernon before beginning her career as a bookkeeper-work that came naturally to her. Elizabeth had a remarkable knack for numbers and an intuitive mind for investing. She enjoyed reading The Wall Street Journal, always eager to learn, analyze, and discover the next sound financial move.
In 1954, she married Anthony Lauricella. Together they built a warm and welcoming home in Eastchester, where they raised their children and created countless memories. Elizabeth and Anthony shared a special bond-one strengthened over decades of partnership, late-night conversations, laughter, and the simple joy of evenings spent on their porch. They also shared a passion for collecting and selling coins, a hobby that brought them adventure and many cherished moments together. Anthony predeceased her, and their reunion now brings comfort to those who loved them both.
Elizabeth's proudest role was that of mother and grandmother. She is survived by her devoted children, Stephen Lauricella and Joan Santoriello (son-in-law Frank Santoriello) and by her grandchildren, who were the lights of her life: Christopher, Matthew (and his wife Allyson), and Alex Santoriello. To them, she was lovingly known as "Goudy," the grandmother who never hesitated to be silly, playful, and full of joy. She was also a cherished sister to Josephine Buttermore and Gene Justino (and his wife Donna). Predeceased by her sisters Fanny Segno, Mary Russo, and Clara Boggi, Elizabeth leaves behind a family deeply grateful for her presence, guidance, and unconditional support.
Those who knew Elizabeth remember her as independent, strong-willed, and fiercely protective. She met life's challenges with determination and grace, always putting her family first. Spending time with her children and grandchildren was her greatest pleasure, and she remained their steadfast supporter through every chapter of their lives. Her love was constant, her advice practical, and her loyalty unwavering.
In her later years, Elizabeth resided at Epic Rehabilitation Center in White Plains, where she lived for the past five years as her health declined. Even as Alzheimer's slowly stole pieces of her memory, it never claimed her spirit. She retained her sense of humor, her spark, and the warmth that endeared her to everyone around her. Her resilience in the face of illness was a testament to the strength she had carried throughout her life.
Elizabeth Lauricella leaves behind a legacy of love, perseverance, and devotion. She will be remembered not only for her sharp mind and protective nature but for her laughter, her generosity, and the countless ways she made her family feel safe and loved.
May she rest in peace, reunited with her beloved Anthony, and forever held in the hearts of all who knew her. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Elizabeth, please visit our Tree Store.
