Ms. Elizabeth "Libby" Hester Libby, 71, of Elizabethtown, NC, passed away April 16th at her home surrounded by family and friends. The youngest of eight children, Libby, was born September 6, 1951, to Reverend Alvin Gaston Hester and Lizzie Mae Hester of Bladenboro.

Libby was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Evalina H. Pait, Arbutus H. Pitman, Jeanette H. Ross, and an infant brother. She leaves behind a daughter Heather Guyton Thompson, her beloved son-in-law Patrick, and her fiancé Robert Britt of Bladenboro. One brother, Alvin Gaston Hester, Jr. of Bladenboro. Joann Johnson (Larry) and brother-in-law Eddie Ross of Burgaw, sister Doretha Edwards (John) of Bladenboro, and brother-in-law Matthew Pittman of Lumberton, many nieces and nephews, dear friends Donna and John Lashley, and her beloved rescue dog Nick "Nikki" Sabon.

Libby was known for her flair, class, work ethic, and infectious smile, which helped her succeed in the car business for over 30 years. During her time, Libby was a leading sales representative for various dealerships and one of the Southeast's first female sales and general managers. Most recently, Libby worked for the North Carolina Department of Transportation Call Center in Elizabethtown, where she used her personality and car knowledge to assist people from across the state.

Libby never met a stranger. As a devoted mother, she instilled the importance of hard work, dressing the part, leading with your heart, and standing firm in your faith. She loved life and laughter and was a dedicated mother and friend. She was an excellent cook and an avid Alabama Football fan-Roll Tide!

The family will receive friends at Bladen Gaskins on Tuesday, April 18th, from 5:00-7:00pm, and a memorial service will be held Wednesday afternoon at 4:00pm at the Bladen Gaskins Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boston Terrier Rescue of North Carolina, 5403 Forest Oaks Drive, Greensboro, NC 27406.
