Elizabeth Lincoln died peacefully on Wednesday, November 19 at home. The only child of Hollis and Helen (Hoyt) Rutland, she was born in Chicago, IL on August 8,1929, and grew up in Presque Isle, Maine and Florida. She attended University of Maine, Orono where she met her beloved husband, Philip Catir, with whom she was married for 50 years before his passing in 1998. Together they raised three daughters and she shares many memories from their lives together.
Her husband's career with Agway, brought their family to live in West Springfield, Ma; Buffalo, NY; Manlius, NY and Longmeadow, MA. Her passion was bridge and she was proud to earn the prestigious title of Life Master. Elizabeth always loved their family adventures on Martha's Vineyard Island where they vacationed each summer.
She is survived by three daughters, Jane (Peter) Knapp, Sunderland, MA; Patricia (Edward) Alford, South Hadley, MA; Nancy (William) Bedell, East Longmeadow, MA. She also leaves seven grandchildren, Charles (Tammy) Emma, Lauren (Tommy) Silver, John Emma, Philip (Ashley) Alford, Jeffrey (Emily) Alford, Elizabeth (Kevin) Warren, Jillian (Sam) Millett; and James (Haily) Bedell, Carolynn (Clark) Robinson and 9 great grandchildren, Tucker, Teagan, Hunter, Agnes, George, Griffin, Braylen, Rosalie and Valerie. She was adored and cherished by all her children and their families. She will be long remembered and deeply missed.
Elizabeth is also predeceased by Addison Lincoln who also lost a longtime spouse. They enjoyed traveling together, spending their winters in Bradenton, FL and many bridge games. She is also survived by five step children, William (Sally) Lincoln, Clemmons, NC; Reed (Sandie) Lincoln, Monson, MA; Flynt (Lauree) Lincoln, Somers, CT; Jo (Kent) Chaney, Scarborough, ME and Ann Mitchell (Dan Hanson), Westerly, RI.
The family would also like to thank her wonderful caregivers and constant companions: Lisa, Coralee, Suzette, Michelle, Poochie and Kerry.
In keeping with her wishes there will be no formal services and the funeral will be private. Memorial donations should be made to a charity of your choosing.

So very sorry to learn of the loss of your mother. Liz and Phil and my parents shared a friendship born from their passion for bridge and when their respective partners passed it was not surprising for Liz and Ad to get together. We Lincolns were comforted knowing that dad had someone he loved to share his later years with.
What I loved about Liz was her interest in others. She always inquired about her extended family. She was a good listener and friend. My love and prayers to all of you at this sad time.
