Elizabeth Loderup Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Premier Funeral Services - Salt Lake City on Feb. 18, 2026.
Elizabeth Layton Loderup, 55, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026 surrounded by her family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She lived a life defined by resilience, service, love, and devotion to Jesus Christ.

Born April 13, 1971, in Provo, Utah, to Alan and Leslie Layton, Elizabeth grew up in Cottonwood Heights with a love for music and people. She was an accomplished pianist and performed in the show choir at Brighton High School, where her warmth and natural ability to connect with others were already evident.

While attending Brigham Young University, Elizabeth studied abroad in Jerusalem, where she met Morten P. Loderup, who would become the love of her life. After returning home, they were married in the Salt Lake Temple and began building a life centered on family and service. She graduated in 1993 with a degree in nursing, a profession that reflected her natural desire to care for and uplift others.

At age 27, Elizabeth was first diagnosed with oligodendroglioma brain cancer and was given two months to live. Yet she was granted many more years than doctors expected. Though her health challenges were significant and ongoing, she chose to live fully and purposefully, refusing to let cancer define her life.

Elizabeth and Morten began their family life in Heber and Provo, Utah, before moving to Austin, Texas, in 2001. There they raised their four children. Motherhood was Elizabeth's greatest joy. She poured herself into her children-guiding them, cheering for them, and creating a home filled with love and strength. One of her greatest blessings was living to see each of her children marry in the temple and begin families of their own. She also enjoyed knowing and loving ten cherished grandchildren. These years together were sacred and full of treasured memories.

Elizabeth had a gift for gathering people. She was warm, joyful, and genuinely interested in others. Friends were drawn to her kindness and buoyant spirit. She loved deeply, served quietly, and found joy in helping others improve their health and lives

She is survived by her beloved husband, Morten Petter Loderup; her children Peter Morten Loderup (Lexie), Christoffer Layton Loderup (Chalise), Rebekka McLawthorn (John), and Emily Fuller (John); and her ten grandchildren.

Her life was a miracle measured not simply in years, but in the love she gave and the lives she strengthened.
