Elizabeth Irene Opitz, age 89, passed away Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024, at Hospice of the Ozarks in Mountian Home, Arkansas. She was born February 4th, 1935, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Elizabeth was the daughter of Edward Alvin and Pauline Louise (Willis) Rowe. Elizabeth was a woman know for being a bit ornery and quick witted but loving and sweet to all who knew her. She was a homemaker who loved the lord with all her heart and enjoyed cooking amazing food for her family and friends. She was an avid quilter who handmade beautiful quilts, even winning the Mayors Award for them. Along with her husband John Paul Opitz, she owned Holiday Hills Store in Elizabeth, Arkansas for many years. More than anything she was proud to be a Grandma and she was extremely proud to be a Gran-Gran. Elizabeth is survived by one son, Leon Opitz and spouse Kelli, two special sons; John Stewart and spouse Sherri, Claude Gilbert and spouse Sheri, three grandchildren, Austin Opitz, Alex Opitz, Dalton Tilley and spouse Kendra, two great-grandchildren, Fae (Nuggie) Opitz, Fallon Tilley, one brother; Leo Rowe, two sisters; Lavern Riggs and Dorthy Richie. Elizabeth is preceded in passing by her loving husband John Paul Opitz, Her beloved parents; Edward Avlin Rowe and Pauline Louise (Willis) Rowe, Three Brothers; Joe Rowe, Allen Rowe, Billy Rowe, and four sisters; Linda Whittaker, Wanda Bates, Dolores Clark, and Betty Yarberro. Pallbearers will be Alex Opitz, Austin Opitz, Claude Gilbert, and Dalton Tilley. There will be a visitation held at 10am, Thursday, September 12th, 2024 at Lewis Funeral Chapel, 4817 Kelley Highway, Fort Smith, Arkansas. A Funeral Service will be held the same day at 11am with a committal service at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Fort Smith, Arkansas immediately following the Funeral Service. All Services are under the care of Lewis Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of the Ozarks.
