Elizabeth Sahagian Obituary

Elizabeth Ahern Sahagian
Elizabeth (Beth) Ahern Sahagian, a resident of Fairfield for 42 years passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 5, 2025 at Mozaic Senior Life after a long battle with Alzheimer's.
Beth was born on September 29, 1953 in Garden City, New York to the late William and Margaret Rita Ahern where she was raised until attending Cabrini College and then transferred to and graduated from Westchester State University in Pennsylvania with a BA degree in education. She went on further to earn a Masters in Library Science form Southern Connecticut University. After a brief career in business working as an assistant buyer for the JC Penney Company in New York City, she switched gears to put her education to use in becoming a children's librarian at the Darien Public Library and then her hometown Fairfield Public Library. Known as Miss Beth, she mastered the art of storytelling for young children, a strong advocate for early literacy and also started a reading club called Bookworms for older children. In addition, Beth served on the Bachelder awards committee for the national American Library Association.
In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, she was active in the PTA while her children attended Fairfield schools. Beth loved the outdoors and was a lifeguard during the summers while attending college and was a great athlete playing basketball in college while also getting out on the tennis courts.
Beth had a smile that would light up a room, loved to be on the dance floor whenever the opportunity presented itself and was known to be a warm, selfless, caring and loving soul, always gracious and humble, who always put her family first.
Beth is survived by her husband of 42 years, Frank Sahagian. She also leaves her son Donald Sheldon and his wife Lisa, daughter Margaret Braxton and her husband Casey and son Daniel Sahagian, as well as her 3 grandchildren Easton, Paige and Teddy. Beth also leaves an older brother William Ahern, Jr. and his wife Joyce, and was predeceased by a brother, John, and sister Marion.

As my childhood next door neighbor I have many many memories that I will cherish. Playing in the rhododendron bushes behind her house. Backyard BBQ´s, birthday parties, trick-treating, and walking to the bus stop together. I will miss Beth very much! Rest in peace my friend!
