Elizabeth 'Betty' Sampson, 102, died Friday, March 28, 2025, at The Cedars Retirement Community, McPherson. She was born January 25, 1923, in McLouth, KS, to Raymond and Carrie May (Tomlinson) Kimmel.
Betty graduated from McLouth High School, following her high school graduation she attended McPherson College and graduated in 1946. Lastly, with hard work and dedication, Betty earned her master's degree from Wichita State University.
Betty was a teacher in Western Kansas, Mount Hope, and former Obee Elementary School, Hutchinson. She retired in 1979, after years of dedicating her career to helping children learn and grow successfully.
In her spare time, Betty enjoyed working with stained glass, painting, and gardening. However, her most cherished moments were those spent with her family.
On June 4, 1950, she married Williard Sampson, in McLouth, KS. They shared over 63 years of marriage, prior to his death on December 19, 2013.
Betty is survived by: 2 children, 1 son-in-law, 1 daughter-in-law, 4 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and 4 step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Cremation has taken place. A private family memorial service and burial will take place.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Community Church of the Brethren, Hutchinson. In care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
