Elizabeth “Libby” Seiffert, 84, passed away suddenly on Friday, July 25, 2025. A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home in Albert Lea, MN. Visitation will begin at noon, one hour prior to the service. Captain Marie Lewis from The Salvation Army will be officiating.

Libby was born on April 16, 1941, in Boy River, MN to Harvey and Carmen Countryman. She was the sixth of seven children. Libby married Herbert Seiffert on June 9, 1973. They resided in Albert Lea but created many special memories with family and friends at Thunder Lake near Remer, MN before he passed away in 2002.

A graduate of Remer High School, Libby also attended St. Paul Bible College and received a degree from Mankato State College in elementary and special education. She began teaching in public school but followed her heart to become involved in Special People in Religious Education (SPIRE) for many years. She received the Service to Mankind Award in 1993 from the Sertoma Club as a special education pioneer for her work with SPIRE. According to Libby she loved working with the students in the SPIRE program. As a result, she is fondly remembered by many whose lives she touched.

A woman of strong faith, Libby was very involved in The Salvation Army church in Albert Lea. She led Bible studies, and served in Sunday school, women’s ministries, vacation Bible school, and the youth group. She also led a Bible study in her apartment building. She left a positive impact on the lives of family and friends and was always ready with a hug, a smile, and a prayer. She often brought little gifts to give to friends and family. Libby was greatly loved and will be missed by so many.

Those left to cherish her memory include sisters Arlene Preble, Evelyn McAllister; stepchildren Darlene (Ken) Krussow, Wayne (Shirley) Seiffert, Paul (Kay) Seiffert, and multiple grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren along with multiple nieces, nephews, and very close friends.

Libby was preceded in death by her husband Herbert, parents Harvey and Carmen, brother Hilbert, sisters Virginia, Doris, Corine, and stepdaughter Betty.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to the Albert Lea Salvation Army.

The service will be live-streamed, and can be viewed from Libby’s obituary page on the Bayview/Freeborn website or at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/live/cIICoBZn5II?si=ID36v3EgF6nD_0Ba
