Mrs. Elizabeth B. Smith, 91, of Swainsboro passed away Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Wellstar Medical College in Augusta. She was born March 13, 1934, in Swainsboro to the late Spencer N. Beasley, Sr. and Mary McNeely Beasley. She resided in Swainsboro until 1971, moving to Springfield for 22 years before returning to Swainsboro. In 1997 she married James Smith and Statesboro became her new hometown. During her 26 years with secretarial work, she worked for 16 years with Arnold Goldstein in Springfield and 10 years with Swainsboro Printing and Finishing Company. She then worked for 28 years as a consultant with Home Interiors where she excelled in sales and in 1990 became “Miss Georgia” for having the highest sales in the state. After retiring she spent two years at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro helping with visitations and funeral services.
Elizabeth loved dancing and in her earlier days spent countless hours dancing with her husband, Jim. Family was her first priority, and she hosted the Beasley Family Reunions for many years. Elizabeth took great pride in her yard, tending to her flowers. She was a member of Beth Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and the love of her life, Jim Screws; sister, Mamie Clyde Beasley; brothers, Spencer N. Beasley, Jr. and Billy Beasley; sister, Lucy Giles; granddaughter, Priscilla Riner Hooks; great-granddaughter, Taylor Nicole Hooks.
Elizabeth is survived by her 3 daughters, Debbie Riner of Swainsboro, Vickie Price Larsen of Brooklet and Judy Smith of Statesboro; grandchildren, Kris (JoAnna) Riner of Vidalia; great-grandchildren, Chase Hooks (Allana) and Cooper Riner of Swainsboro, Maddie Riner of Vidalia; one brother, Roy (Ruth) Beasley of Vidalia; two sisters, Clara Sineath of Panama City, FL and Bonnie Nobles of Statesboro, friend, Annette Jones; 2 first cousins, Kasey Jacobson of Sioux Falls and Kenneth Beasley of Dahlonega; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2025, in the chapel of Eastbrook Cemetery & Mausoleum with Reverend Harold Piet officiating.
The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to services.
Pallbearers will be Nolan Beasley, Newton Beasley, Lester Beasley, and Eddie Beasley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Donnie McNeely, Lige Moore, J. R. Holloway, Barry Denney, Jack Todd, Michael Todd, Ronnie Sanders, and Jeffery Horton.
