Elizabeth Jo "Lizzie" Voelkel

Miss. Elizabeth Jo "Lizzie" Voelkel and her unborn son Lennox David Shelton of Nashville, IL, departed this life at Washington County Hospital Emergency Room in Nashville, IL, on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 9:00 P.M., due to injuries sustained from an automobile accident. She had attained the age of 20 years, 11 months and 17 days.

Lizzie was born on December 5, 2004, at Carbondale, IL, the daughter of Michael Voelkel and Casey Emrick.

Lizzie was a 2023 graduate of Mt. Vernon Township High School. She was of the Catholic faith. She enjoyed spending her time gardening, fishing, cooking and being with her dog and cat. She was so excited to welcome her son Lennox David Shelton in February. Lizzie had so much love to give and would have been the most amazing mother.

Left to mourn her passing is her significant other, Logan Shelton of Nashville, IL; mother, Casey Emrick and her close friend, Paul Kaelin of Mt. Vernon, IL; brother, Ethan Emrick and his close friend Ashley Barber of Mt. Vernon, IL; niece, Emerson Emrick; paternal grandparents, Paul and JoAnn Voelkel of Nashville, IL; maternal grandparents, Bill and Cynthia Reininger; aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and an abundance of friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Michael Voelkel; paternal great grandparents, Harry "Sparky" and Elizabeth Voelkel and Walter "Jim" and Margaret Kozuszek; maternal great grandparents, William and Jackie Sharp and Orin and Juanita Emrick.

Per the wishes of Elizabeth and her family, cremation will be performed and there will be a Celebration of Life service held at the Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville, IL on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at 7:00 P.M. with Fr. Benny George officiating.

Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville, IL on Sunday, December 7, 2025 from 4:00 P.M. until the service hour.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Jefferson County Animal Shelter and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
