Elizabeth "Bootsie" Williams, daughter of David and Eva Francis died on 8/13/2025 under the care of Vitas Hospice at Homestead Village in Pensacola, Florida. Born on August 17, 1926, in Pennsylvania, she spent her early years living with her maternal grandparents while her parents were travelling performers. She was given her nickname from a bus driver who commented on the travelling boots that she always wore on the way to visit her parents.
As an adult, she became a show girl, dancing in Chicago. She was a USO dancer, performing for Navy soldiers during WWII. She worked as a courier and teletype operator at a military base during WWII. She later moved to Moultrie, Georgia, and worked as a groomer and dog trainer with her father, whom she adored. After her father passed away, she and her mother moved to Perry, Florida, and she opened a grooming business from her home there.
She met the love of her life, Dave Williams, through a Catholic pen pal service. He travelled from Chicago to Perry and romance bloomed. They married on 9/7/1991 in Perry, Florida, and worked together several years before moving to Lillian, Alabama, where they ran a dog grooming service from their home. They were active members of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.
After Dave passed away from cancer in 2014, she moved to Homestead Village in Pensacola. On August 10, 2025, she had a severe stroke.
A graveside service at Barrancas Military Cemetery will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM, under the direction of Faith Chapel Funeral Home South. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Joseph Catholic Church in her honor.
