Elizabeth (Betty) Zdimal went to the arms of Jesus on Saturday, September 20, 2025. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Joseph Zdimal, her 2 daughters, Angel (Colin) DeLap, and Rachel (Christian) Clover, sisters Carla Lavin & Julie Bowman, 6 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Betty was a fighter from the day she was born; born with asthma, she fought all her life to live normally, even when she struggled to breathe. Nothing could keep her down; if it was a health battle, she fought it with all she had. Later in life, she came to know Jesus Christ as her Savior, and then she had an even stronger weapon in her health battle - prayer and Jesus! She met Joseph through his father, (who worked at IBM where she worked) who recommended she start to write Joseph letters while he was in the Navy. When Jospeh returned to Binghamton, they met for a date and there was an instant connection. Joseph proposed some time later as they were skipping over puddles in a parking lot, and she never let him forget his "magical" proposal!

They had two daughters later in life, but those girls were their pride and joy and children they had been praying for 13 years to be blessed with.

Betty worked from home through the early years of the girls life, and then gave up on her career to homeschool her daughters from Kindergarten through 12th grade, and she never regretted it. She spent a lot of time every summer planning for the next school year, and she created some of the best lesson plans - her daughters had a lot of fun learning. She will never know how much they appreciated all the time and effort she put into helping them grow and become successful adults.

Betty's ultimate pride and joy was to see her grandchildren - all six of them. Told by Doctors earlier on in life that she wouldn't make it past 40, she never expected to not only see her daughters graduate high school, but also see them get married, as well as meet her grandchildren. God truly blessed her with that gift and she made sure you knew how grateful she was for that. She loved every one of her grandchildren to pieces, and earlier on when she was in better health, she enjoyed having them over and spending time with them as much as she could. She dreamed of watching them all grow up, but God's plans were bigger than that dream, and He called her home before she could see that.

Betty had many health issues towards the end of her life, and all were a major struggle and tribulation for her, but she never gave up and was a fighter even until the end when God called her home to get a new body with no more pain, scars, or breathing problems. Her husband, Joseph, gave lovingly of his time caring for her, taking her to appointments, visiting her at Good Shepherd, and all the hospitals she was moved around, never missing anything but one day. He will never know how much she appreciated and loved him for all he did and sacrificed for her.

The family wishes to thank the Staff at Good Shepherd Fairview Home, Binghamton General Hospital, and Wilson Hospital for all the care they provided for her the last two months. She will be truly missed but we know she is in the arms of Jesus - running that race she never was able to do until now. "No more pain, no more mourning, I am bathed in God's glory, I have finished the race.
